How to remove URS with Downstream Marketplace

Uninsured Rental Surcharge (URS)

What is URS?

URS is a surcharge that may apply to equipment rentals when qualifying insurance is not on file for your company.

How to remove URS

To remove URS, submit proof of qualifying insurance to Downstream Compliance.

Your documentation must include:

  • General liability coverage meeting required limits
  • Equipment coverage meeting replacement-cost requirements
  • Additional insured language, if required
  • A current COI

Insurance requirements

  • General Liability: $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate
  • Equipment or inland marine coverage: at or above full replacement cost
  • Coverage must remain active for the full rental period

COI submission rules

  • Blanket policy: submit once per year at renewal
  • Per-asset coverage: submit for each new rented asset

Important notes

  • URS is not insurance
  • Your company remains responsible for loss or damage as described in your rental terms
  • If coverage lapses, URS may be re-applied
